Roháče mountains

 

The western part of High Tatra Mountains is called Roháče and they can be accessed on foot from the final bus stop Zuberec-Zverovka. The car park lot is placed higher on the road from Zverovka to Tatliakova cottage. According to the tourists ability it is possible to make one of the following tour circles via the mountain range of West Tatra Mountains - Roháče.

Educational path through Roháče tarns is intended for middle-experienced tourist and/or children. On the other hand it offers a nice view of Tatra summits walking on the modest route from Tatliakova cottage to the beautiful scenery of Roháče waterfall.

Edge route through Ostrý Roháč for experienced hikers only:
Distance 20 km, trip time 8.5 hours.
Zverovka cottage-Látaná valley-Rákoň-Volovec-Ostrý Roháč-Plačlivô-Smutné saddle-Tatliakova cottage-Zverovka cottage.

Edge route through Baníkov for experienced hikers only:
Distance 22 km, trip time 9 hours.
Zverovka cottage-Tatliakova cottage-Smutné saddle-Tri kopy-Baníkov-Roháče waterfall-Zverovka cottage.

Edge route through Brestová for experienced hikers only:
Distance 23 km, trip time 9.5 hours.
Zverovka cottage-Roháče waterfall-Baníkov saddle-Skriniarky-Brestová-Spálený channel-Zverovka cottage.
 

Juráňova dolina

Juráňova dolina is the valley with the cannyon created by the creek among the mountains. The interesting scenery of Oravice nature with monumental rocks, a creek, forests, fauna and flora make the trip one of the most popular in the region. The tourist route starts in the Oravice tourist centre and is recommended also for children and seniors.

Distance 12 km, trip time 4 hours.

 

Skorušina

Skorušina is the mountain range starting from the Podbiel village on southwest end and finishing on northeast end in Oravice recreational centre. The viewing tower on top of the Skorušina summit provide the spectacular view of magnificient mountain range of High Tatra Mountains, Choč Mountains, Rozsutec, Babia hora and Orava Dam.

The tourist route starts in Podbiel and goes through Prasatín with the ski lift ending on top. The long and mild climbing is stopped for the rest on Skorušina summit, where the rest place is made for all who want to eat some food, drink and relax. The stop is always used for climbing on top of the viewing tower during the acceptable weather. The unforgettable view will remember you the trip for a long time. The route continues walking downhill up to the recreational centre in Oravice. The long route is rewarded by the relaxing warm bath in thermal spa in Oravice centre.
 

Babia hora

Babia hora is the characteristic symmetrical mountain to the north of Orava Dam. Tourist route starts in Oravská Polhora village and goes to the Slana voda cottage. It is necessary to go forward to the Hviezdoslav's woodsman house - here we can park the car at the nearest park lot. The route from the Hviezdoslav's woodsman house continues toward the peak following modest but "neverending" climb. Babia hora summit offers magnificient view of the Poland endless planes, monumental mountain range of Tatra mountains, Oravská Magura and Chočské vrchy mountains.
 

Kvačianska dolina and Prosiecka dolina

 

Kvačianska dolina and Prosiecka dolina are one of the most beautiful valleys in our region. Cliffs, waterfalls, deep forests gorgeous valleys create the fscinating scenery which is very popular among turist. The tourist route starts in Huty village following the direction toward Veľké Borové village. The park lot shows the entrance to the Kvačianska dolina (Kvačianska valley). The old mill in Oblazy shows the old milling technique which was preserved and is protected as the technical heritage of Slovakia. It is highly recommeded to follow the Borovianka creek to the Veľke Borové village or it is possible to get back to Kvačianska dolina and to park lot. Prosiecka dolina can be accessed through Prosiek village or through Veľké Borové village. 
 

Veľký Choč

The Veľký Choč is the massive mountain outstanding separately from other mountains in Orava which gives it the special position. Tourist route starts from Jasenová village and leads from forest path through scrub trees to the rocky mountain surrounding. After a long and steep climb you get to the peak (1611 m above the sea level) which shows you the exquisite impression of splendid view of Orava region, Liptov region, High Tatra Mountains, Low Tatra Mountains and Fatra Mountains. From the peak you can follow three directions - to the north back to park lot or to the Vyšný Kubín village, to the south to Lúčky village or to the west to Valaská Dubová village where you can visit famous Jánošík's pub - Jánošík was the Slovak national hero acting during the beginning of 18th century.
