Downhill skiing is very popular in Orava and has the long tradition. The well developed and equipped ski centres provide wide assortment of services and give the possibility for skiing in a wonderful nature surroundings followed up with the wellness services. Cross country skiing

Cross country skiing is possible in most ski centres, also some accommodation facilities have their near at hand tracks and the cross country tracks are maintained during the winter season. Most attractive cross country tracs are in the following areas:

Roháče Spálená - tracs are made via the road to Tatliakova cottage and following forest roads, most part of the winter season are well maintained. Cross  country excercises in high altitude mountaineous area surrounding with monumental montaineous peaks will give you  unforgettable memories.

Oravice - tracs follow the roads in nearby areas of the Oravice recreational centre. They are popular due to their location in the nature surrounding where no traffic is allowed and the possibility to finish the excercise in Thermal spa relaxing facilities. The unique conection of skiing and spa relax.

Zuberec Milotín/Janovky - tracs are located in the nearby area of downhill ski centres and in the surrounding of the Zuberec village. Tracs are well maintained during the winter season. They are popular due to their possibility to combine downhill skiing and crosss country skiing.

Skorušinské vrchy - cross country tracs lead all over the top mountain range of Skorušina mountains and go to villages  Brezovica, Zábiedovo, Habovka, Zuberec, Oravice. They provide magnificient scenery of distant overviews toward all direction - you can see mountains and valleys in vast Orava region.
 
Oravská priehrada - (Orava Dam) provide cross country tracs along it's shore or above it's frozen shore edges after frequent period of strong frosts.
 

Bowling alley in Trstená - Ninepin

The modern Ninepin bowling alley in Trstená provide 4 full automated bowling lanes, it is possible to rent  one lane or the whole hall. It is possible to order the operation of the buffet. This activity is very popular especially when the weather prevent tourist from doing outdoor activities. It is necessary to book the lane or hall by the phone or in person.

Two Tenpin bowling lanes are available in the caffee-bar at Bernolákova street (behind the main church) in Trstená. The adjacent restaurant offers wide assortment of good meals. The facility is very popular for tourist and nearby citizens.

Tennis courts in Nižná

Tennis courts are located in Nižná behind the swimming pool. They provide 5 tennis courts with one tennis wall for the individual training. They open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 (in summer season). It is possible to rent tennis rackets and balls (limited amount only).

Swiming pool in Nižná provide 25 metre indoor pool which is opened for public in dedicated hours. Operation is often modified and so it is recommended to check the operation hours in a local newspaper or by the phone.

Horse riding

Horse riding is provided in the following facilities:

Podbiel - in the area of Františkova huta - they provide 4 horses for riding.

Dlhá nad Oravou - Agritouristic centre Húšť - provides 10 horses, instructors, horse riding school, riding in the nearby nature, riding in the riding hall (especially horse ride teaching) coach riding and sledge riding. The centre provides bike rental and children playground.

Námestovo - Ranč u Edyho the facility close to the Studnička hotel - they provide 6 hourses, instructors. The educational path of National Park "Horná Orava" starts here with the possibility to get to the bird's island following the shore of Orava Dam. The catering services can be used in restaurant of hotel Studnička or in restaurants in new hotels situated on the Orava Dam shore in Námestovo city.
